A cracked iPad screen does not automatically mean you need a new iPad. It also does not automatically make a screen replacement good value. We would look at the whole tablet before spending money on the most visible problem.
For iPad screen repair in Singapore, the useful question is not “What is the cheapest screen?” It is “What does this exact tablet need, and will it still do my job after the repair?” A school tablet, a drawing tablet and a spare Netflix screen deserve different decisions.
Start with the model, not just the screen size
Find the model name in Settings → General → About if the tablet can be used safely. If touch is unreliable, use the model information on the device or its original paperwork instead. Do not keep tapping a shattered screen to retrieve a serial number.
The exact model determines the compatible screen and repair method. Ask whether the quote covers the outer glass and touch layer, the display, or a complete assembly. “The picture still works” is useful information, but it does not establish that a glass-only repair is possible on your model.
Separate broken glass from other faults
Tell us whether the image is clear, whether there are lines or dark patches, and whether touch works across the screen. Mention phantom touches, failed fingerprint or face recognition, charging trouble and any bend in the frame. These details help prevent a quote for one visible fault from being mistaken for a complete diagnosis.
A screen lifting away from the frame can also need a battery assessment. Do not press it back down or clamp it shut. If the tablet is hot or swollen, stop charging and arrange safe handling advice. Sharp glass is another reason to stop using it rather than carry on with a child’s homework on your lap.

Compare a proper repair quote with a realistic replacement
We do not use a blanket “repair if it costs less than half” rule. That ignores the condition of the battery, whether essential apps still work, and the price of a genuinely comparable replacement. A bargain replacement with too little storage is not the same product.
Get a written quote that states the model, part type, labour, applicable taxes, warranty terms and any separate damage. Ask what happens if inspection finds more than a screen fault. Also ask about display brightness, colour, touch response and stylus support for the proposed part. Our guide to what still needs a human in device repair explains why physical repair and software or calibration behaviour are not always the same thing.
| Repair is worth investigating when… | Replacement deserves a close look when… |
|---|---|
| The tablet still runs your essential apps well | Your essential apps no longer work on it |
| Battery, frame and charging are otherwise sound | Screen damage comes with several other faults |
| Storage still suits your use | You already need more storage or different features |
| The full written quote beats a comparable replacement | The complete repair cost is close to a suitable replacement |
Check Apple coverage before you choose
Apple’s Singapore iPad service page offers model-specific estimates and says inspection determines the final fee. It also says its limited warranty does not cover accidental damage. An active AppleCare plan may change the options, so check your own coverage rather than assuming an independent repair is the cheapest route.
We have deliberately not published a universal dollar figure here. “iPad screen” describes too many different devices, and neither a generic starting price nor another customer’s bill tells you what your repair includes. Ask for a quote for your model and compare like with like.
Back up before handing it over
If the tablet is safe to use, check that a current backup exists and that important school files or drawings are actually stored somewhere else. Do not assume a repair will preserve every file. If it is unsafe or cannot be unlocked, tell the workshop that before authorising a reset or replacement.
FAQ
Can you replace only the glass on my iPad?
It depends on the exact model and damage. A working picture alone does not prove that a glass-only repair is suitable.
Is a cracked iPad screen covered by the standard Apple warranty?
Apple says accidental damage is not covered by its limited warranty. Check any AppleCare plan, insurance and applicable consumer-law rights separately.
What should I bring for a screen assessment?
Bring the exact model information, describe all symptoms, and bring the stylus or accessory if it is part of the fault. Back up first if the device is safe to use.
